Yes, pukey indeed! I remember getting that email while I was still a jw. Unfortunately, at the time, I bought into the whole "if I'm not happy at the Hall, it must be me" mentality. Talk about self-loathing! This really makes me ill now to think of it. Aren't you glad you're out?

THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU!
by cyber-sista inaloha friends,
still working on my process of separating from the org.
so far i have found it best to have little to no contact with anyone who is still living in jw land, as their state of denial is so disturbing to me.

"Knowledge" studies - still in use?
by Trinitarian in.
can anyone confirm that the knowledge studies are still in use, and haven't had any recent major revisions (last couple of years).. i've written some analysis of these studies and wanted to make sure the source, knowedge that leads to everlasting life, is current.. .
thanks!

The Knowledge book is still around although they've released a new study book as of this past summer entitled "What Does the Bible Really Teach?" I believe it is meant to replace the Knowledge book as the new 2nd study book for baptism. It has very similar content though to the Knowledge book.

Are JW's closer to their creator than other religions?
by truthseeker ini was thinking the other day, why so many xjw's become atheist or agnostic.. is it because the wt admonishes us to "draw close to jehovah" so much, that when a witness finally does see the "light" regarding the watchtower, they feel that god has failed them?
think of the publication, "draw close to jehovah" - the book is practically a step by step guide to being god's friend.
because witnesses believe that jehovah and the watchtower are entwined, almost like a duality, then the closeness they feel with jehovah god must be a catalyst for deep discord in the event that the truth is discovered about watchtower teachings and dogma.

It's funny because I've been battling with the whole concept of my relationship to my Creator since I left the org. The "Draw Close" book was my favourite book. I felt it was one of the better attempts at helping individuals to come to know their creator. My favourite chapter was chapter 24 which was titled "Nothing Can Separate Us From God's Love." Many of the points there actually stuck with me when I was disassociating, realizing that the wts were men and even they couldn't stop God from loving me.
The more the "truth" bubble breaks for me though, the harder it is for me to feel close to a creator. I was actually thinking about this just this morning when I work up.
While I think the God reflected by Jesus in the nt is someone I can connect with, the God portrayed in the ot leaves much to be desired. And now that the wts blinders are coming off I can see that the God I was raised to believe in as a jw isn't that likeable.
So now I'm left in a quandry. While I believe in some greater force or energy that pervades this universe, I'm not sure it resembles anything close to the jw version of God.
To answer your question, "Are JW's closer to their creator than other religions?" I'd have to say no. While they appear to be close to God, they are close only to their interpretation of him which is based on the ideas of a small group of men in Brooklyn, which imho is a very narrow view.

"The world uses people up and throws them away when they are done with them. Jehovah's organization is not like that."
ARGHHHH!!!! I can't even express how angry I am with this statement.

No Typos...
by tall penguin ini was just thinking about how, in all the time i was a jw, i never once saw a typo in one of their publications.
i used to think how wonderful it was that jehovah made sure his publications were edited to the letter.
after all, "god is in the details!

I was just thinking about how, in all the time I was a jw, I never once saw a typo in one of their publications. I used to think how wonderful it was that Jehovah made sure his publications were edited to the letter. After all, "God is in the details!"
And I was thinking about how these little "perfect" details unconsciously added to my rampant perfectionnism over the years. I felt as if any slight deviation, even in such a small thing as my writing and grammar, could reflect poorly on my creator.
Each day I become more aware of these little insidious ways that I was affected for the worse by my being connected with the wts. Of course now that I know the truth about "the truth" it all seems so crazy. I mean, they may not have made typos but man, they really failed on the journalistic integrity! Not to mention honesty!
What's that scripture? "Blind guides, who strain out the gnat but gulp down the camel!" (Matt. 23:24)
